Why Virtual Assistants are Important for Businesses

In the last few years, the new job of a Virtual Assistant has sprung up. This blog looks at what is a  a Virtual Assistant? Why Virtual Assistant are important in my business?

What is a VA?

A VA is not an employee of the business but works hand in hand with the entrepreneur for the success of the business.

A professional person working from a remote location offering services to fill the gap in your small business. Virtual Assistants offer many services from administration, phone calls, to managing your e-mail, website design, social media management and much more (see here for a list of different services).

A VA can work 5 hours a month or 20(+) hours a month or once off projects. They have skills and knowledge which the business owner may not have, do not enjoy nor have time for.

Using a virtual assistant service frees up time, therefore the business owner can focus on growing their business and increasing revenue. And not every small business needs a full-time employee.

Bear in mind that a VA can have a few different clients at the same time. They are also a business owner and busy juggling clients and projects just like their clients.  As a Virtual Assistant, I have my office all set up ready to assist you in your business.

Why Virtual Assistants are Important:

  • VAs work remotely and have their own office set up – this reduces equipment and office cost layout for the business. The business can run from the owner’s home office in (for example) Cape Town and the VA is based in Durban.
  • No need for a full-time employee: The VA works for 5/10 hours or more or only when needed in the business. This is especially great if the business has extremely busy and quiet periods.
  • A VA covers all the admin work you don’t want to do: Don’t like social media or admin work – your VA can do this.
  • More time to focus on other important areas: Instead of doing the social media creation you can concentrate on clients, knowing that your VA is on top of other work
  • Increased Productivity: You Virtual Assistant has expertise in certain areas, this is why you hire them.
  • Reduced Labour Cost: They only work on what you need them to
